Rigby Rings the Bell for Northwest Corner Needy

WINSTED–Life for needy people will be a little bit easier this holiday season thanks to John Rigby and members of the local Rotary Club. Rigby, state representative-elect for the 63rd House District, volunteered last week for the Salvation Army by collecting donations from customers at the Stop & Shop grocery store. Colebrook resident Rigby is a member of the club and joined fellow Rotarians who throughout the day manned the collection bucket in the store’s foyer. Rigby has been an active member in the organization, even working on its marquee event: the annual Pet Parade in Winsted. Rigby and Co. await the tally from their volunteer effort, but when Rigby turned in the red bucket it was full of bills and change. The 63rd District includes Winsted, Canaan, Norfolk, North Canaan, Hartland, Colebrook and part of Barkhamsted.
