State Representative DebraLee Hovey (R-112) today said free dental services are available during the month of February to children Monroe residents without insurance. The local Give Kids A Smile program provides free services at the Oral Health Bridgeport Initiative (ORBIT) partner agencies and in private providers’ offices.
The Give Kids A Smile name was first used by the Greater St. Louis Dental Society and a group of dentists who set up a temporary full-service clinic that treated nearly 400 children over two days in February 2002. Since then, the program has grown enormously in providing free services to underserved children. Appointments for free care, both cleanings/exams and also restorative services can be made by calling (203) 372-5503.
“I encourage residents who have children without dental insurance to look into these services during the next two weeks,” said Rep. Hovey. “Oral health care for children is very important to helping ensure healthy teeth in adulthood.”
