Web Site to Track Stimulus Funds

There’s a Web site available that will allow Connecticut residents to monitor the progress of stimulus-funded projects and track the availability and creation of jobs through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, state Rep. Penny Bacchiochi said today.

Bacchiochi, of Somers, said questions about how federal stimulus money will be spent have come frequently from residents of the three-community district she serves.

“People I’ve talked to are concerned about the economy and at the same time fed up with how their tax dollars have been spent,” Bacchiochi said. “That’s why it’s so important that this process be transparent.”

Bacchiochi noted that such transparency is a stipulation of the federal act.

The Web site offers links to employers and training opportunities, and it also has information on project deadlines and will serve as a clearing house for more funding sources.

The new Web site – www.recovery.ct.gov – includes sections on:
• Explanation of the federal law
• Accountability of stimulus dollars
• Lists of “shovel-ready” projects and deadlines
• Latest news on the stimulus in Connecticut
• Frequently asked questions
