HARTFORD- State Rep. Janice R. Giegler (R-138) along with other Danbury legislators met with Western Connecticut University students regarding a Democratic proposal to completely eliminate their State University.
The Danbury legislators assailed the proposals and vowed to fight any action to close the school.
Two weeks ago, Democratic leaders proposed a series of cuts to make up the $2 billion difference between the Governors budget office and the legislature. While proposing these cuts the supermajority refused to endorse the cuts.
Students asked why legislators were wasting time on proposals such as this instead working together for the good of the state and Danbury.
Rep. Giegler said, “The legislature will pass a state budget this session, and I urge the majority party to work with the Governor instead of squandering precious time.”

“I commend these students for their advocacy and for coming to Hartford in support of their University,” said Giegler.
