Hartford: State Representative Jason Perillo (R- 113th) today issued the following statement on the release of the House Republicans’ latest budget alternative:
“Connecticut’s economy cannot take the blow of a budget containing tax increases and unsustainable levels of government spending. I am proud to stand behind the House Republican Caucus’ alternative to the $1.8 billion in tax increases proposed by the Majority in Hartford. Our budget contains no tax increase and will protect Connecticut jobs by balancing the budget through a rollback of state spending to 2007 levels. While budget cuts are always difficult, our budget maintains a level of state services that was generous two years ago and would be generous today. Virtually no family in Connecticut has escaped this recession without making tough choices, and we as representatives of these families cannot run away from making the same difficult choices in the way government conducts business. Even in these difficult times, state government can prevent adding to job losses if leaders at the Capitol are willing to make these tough choices.”
