Hovey Gets “A” Rating From League Of Conservation Voters

“As the representative of two communities that take pride in their rural charm and pristine natural resources, I am glad that the League of Conservation Voters has recognized the bi-partisan work done this session to protect our environment,” said Rep. Hovey.  “I have always believed that strong environmental stewardship is not a Republican or Democrat issue, rather, it is a responsibility that all public officials share and must work together to fulfill.  Not only is a cleaner, greener Connecticut good for our environment, it is good for residential property values, helps to improve public health, and serves as an attraction for businesses or individuals considering relocation to Connecticut.”

HARTFORD-  State Representative DebraLee Hovey (R-112) has received a rating of “A” from the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters, according to the Legislative Scorecard released today by that organization.

Rep. Hovey’s rating was based in part on her support for strengthening of enforcement powers given to the Department of Environmental Protection, incentives for green building projects, and a law that encourages municipal recycling efforts.  The LCV 2009 Scorecard can be viewed at http://www.ctlcv.org/Scorecards/2009%20House%20Scores.pdf.
