State Representative Tony Hwang will be joining forces this Holiday Season with Leo Redgate, founder and president of the Community Theatre Foundation and numerous local officials to host the showing of the Will Ferrell Christmas film “Elf.”
The event will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 28th, 2009 at the Community Theater in downtown Fairfield. Admission to the event is a donation of a non-perishable canned food or $5 that will go to the Operation Hope Food Pantry. The cash donations will go toward the purchase of holiday gifts for children staying at the Operation Hope shelter.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to get into the holiday spirit and to help a neighbor in need,” said Carla Miklos, Executive Director of Operation Hope. “We are so grateful for Tony’s creative idea, and we look forward to a great turnout at the event.”
The event will coincide with the Chamber of Commerce’s annual “Santa’s Arrival” at Sherman Town Green. Families can come down and visit Santa on the green and follow it up with a trip to the movie.
“This will be a fantastic and fun Holiday festivity,” said Rep. Hwang. “And best of all, it’s for a great cause, helping people share in the joy of the Holiday Season. I hope that many members of the community join us at this event and welcome the Holidays by helping Operation Hope.”
