“A great work ethic is far more important to the world than a 60-yard touchdown run,” Rep. Greene told players, coaches and families as he addresssed the 2010 Seymour High School Football Banquet last night.
Greene, who played on the Seymour High football team from 1994-1997, talked about the value of hard work, dedication and of listening to differeing points of view before deciding on a response. A winning record from senior year of high school isn’t going to matter in 10 years, he said. Rather, the lessons learned from the effort and the perserverance shown when the team was down are more important to future employers and success in general.
“Character isn’t something you’re born with,” Rep. Greene said. “you build it over time.”
