Speaking directly to local employers Rep. Noujaim said Connecticut needs to cut spending, reduce waste and encourage business growth during the Greater Waterbury Chamber of Commerce’s annual legislative breakfast.
More than 100 people sat inside the audience at the CoCo Key Hotel and Convention Center, where Noujaim and a dozen-or-so other state lawmakers fielded questions about Connecticut’s well-publicized budget problems and how they affect the state’s business community.
Several Republican lawmakers bemoaned the last two years, when their plans to close the state’s deficit through targeted spending reductions were ignored in favor of borrowing and hefty tax increases—controversial revenue grabs that affected businesses and the middle class families they support.
