Rep. Noujaim on Friday joined local and state legislators, students, college professors and administrators for the first Naugatuck Valley Community College Legislative Breakfast, “Toward a Shared Agenda,” to discuss the College’s growth, its challenges and successes and its plan for the future.
The event, hosted by the college and NVCC President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D., was a way for local legislators to learn first-hand the issues affecting Connecticut’s community colleges and how the decisions made in Hartford directly affect the educational system across the state. Transportation and accessibility were two of the main topics covered during the breakfast.
“In 1982, Dr. Ekstrom asked me to join the College’s advisory council, “Rep. Noujaim said. “I enrolled two brothers who were new to this country and didn’t speak a word of English. They went on to the University of New Haven; they both have good jobs. I love this school. This community college campus has come a long way to being a great institution.”
