SOUTHINGTON — State Rep. Rob Sampson is a history buff, so today he leaped at the opportunity to attend the grand opening of the Civil War exhibit at the Southington Historical Society. Attendance at the event was great. A few dozen people turned out during the course of the day, which Sampson attributed to the fine effort of Society staffers. Sampson was so impressed that he offered to loan the Society items from his Civil War collection: a musket and a General Assembly citation given to his grandmother by her grandfather–an honor he received for his service in the war. Check out this New Britain herald report about the event. And for information about the exhibit, visit the Society on the Web.
