During the annual Connecticut Business and Industry (CBIA) Day at the Capitol, Representative Tim Ackert (R- Coventry) took part in a panel discussion focusing on small businesses in Connecticut. The forum was moderated by former Congressman Rob Simmons and the panel consisted of ten legislators, both Republicans and Democrats.
After brief introductions the panel opened up the floor to questions and comments from the audience. The audience in the packed room consisted mostly of small business owners in Connecticut.
The audience questions covered a variety of topics but they all maintained the same theme- Connecticut must become more business friendly.
Ackert, an electrician and small business owner, urged attendees to contact their elected officials and demand to be heard.
“I decided to run for office because I realized the legislature was having a negative impact on my own business,” said Ackert. “I understand the frustrations of the people that came up here today and I want to help them. We can’t fix our state’s financial problems by taking aim on our businesses.”
