Rep. Rob Sampson gave a nod to community service recently with a stop at an event honoring an Eagle Scout in Southington and another for Cub Scouts in Wolcott. Sampson first attended a Court of Honor ceremony Saturday in Southington for Jonathan Plourde, who achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Sampson was among Plourde’s friends and family at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, where everyone learned about Plourde’s efforts to build a stone retaining wall along a basketball court at Camp Sloper, a YMCA day camp and outdoor center. Sampson presented Plourde with a special citation from the General Assembly. Sunday, Sampson went to the Congregational Church in Wolcott for the Blue & Gold Advancement dinner for Cub Scout Pack 231. The ceremony celebrated the achievements of the pack’s young scouts, including Andrew Bove, Steven Coelho, Tyler Calabretta and Brandon Keane.
