Rep. Wood Stands Against Racism

State Repesentative Terrie Wood (R-141) joined other local residents, officials and organizations for the YWCA Darien/Norwalk’s second Stand Against Racism event at Town Hall on Friday, April 29.

Darien has come a long way since the racially divided era of the mid-20th Century. To further engage the dissolution of racial stereotypes, Darienites attended the rally, which included songs from the Serendipity Chorale and speeches from State Sen. Bob Duff and State Rep. Terrie Wood.

“To me, standing against racism is about learning to genuinely listen to each other, to develop an emotional maturity to put aside differences and look to the solution for problems,” Wood, a Darien Republican, said. “It is so important to develop and cultivate a civility in respecting differences.”
