Public Hearings on Storm Irene Preparedness and Response

In the wake of Tropical Storm Irene, the legislature will hold a hearing for the public to comment on the state’s preparation and the response to storm Irene.

The public hearing will be held in the Legislative Office Building 300 Capitol Avenue in Hartford, Room 2C beginning at 9:30 AM on Monday, September 26th.

The purpose of this hearing is to aid the state legislature as it discusses post-storm findings with state emergency response personnel as well as electricity, cable, wireless and telephone providers to assess where improvements need to be made in the event of future storms of this magnitude.

If you would like to testify in person, or would like to submit written testimony for the legislature’s consideration, please contact me, State Representative Themis Klarides, at 1-800-842-1423 or Themis.Klarides@housegop.ct.gov before Friday, September 23rd. You can also email written testimony to the Energy and Technology Committee Clerk directly at david.macdonald@cga.ct.gov.

It has also been erroneously reported that comments sent via a Facebook or Twitter account will be included in the record. The Energy and Technology Committee does not consider such messages a form of public comment so please send any official statements to my office or to the committee directly before Friday, September 23rd.
