State Representative Bill Simanski, along with State Senators John Kissel and Kevin Witkos, took part in a Legislative Forum at the Granby Senior Center. The forum was sponsored by the Granby Republican Town Committee and was open to the public.

While all three legislators agreed that this was the most liberal legislative session in recent memory, Rep. Simanski made sure to let the audience know there were some good pieces of legislation that was adopted. Such as:

  • The limited liability of municipalities when it comes to the recreational use of public land.
  • The transfer of operation of Bradley Airport and the five state owned regional airports to the newly created Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA).
  • A new requirement that school bus operators to remove a driver from a school bus within 48 hours after learning that the DMV has suspended or revoked his or her license or school bus endorsement.
  • A helping hand to the state’s dairy farmers by making permanent the agricultural sustainability account established in 2009, which supports a grant program for dairy farmers.

Representative Simanski and the Senators took questions from the audience on topics ranging from the state budget, to education, the economy and public safety.
