Local Legislators, Stratford Senior Services Host Senior Health & Wellness Fair in Stratford

More than 200 people attended a senior health and wellness fair at the Stratford Baldwin Center in Stratford, CT on Thursday. The fair was hosted by State Senator Kevin Kelly (R-21), State Representative Laura Hoydick (R-120), State Representative Larry Miller (R-122) and Stratford Senior Services. State and local organizations and volunteers provided attendees with health screenings and information about programs available to seniors related to health, wellness, legal issues, financial services and more.  In addition, more than 40 flu shots were administered by the Stratford VNA.

“There are so many services that are available to seniors that many of them simply don’t know about,” said Representative Hoydick. “We wanted this event to raise awareness as to just what is out there for seniors for better health and quality of life.”

“Especially during these tough economic times, it is important for senior citizens and their loved ones to learn about the multitude of programs and services that can help them lead longer, healthier lives,” said Senator Kelly.  “Hats off to my fellow legislators and the local organizations and volunteers that made Thursday’s event possible.”

“Whether it’s something as simple as access to a flu shot, or something more complicated like estate planning, we wanted this event to provide information so seniors would know what is out there for them.” said Representative Miller.
