Rep. Noujaim kicked off the annual Connecticut Loves To Read Day event at the Target store on Chase Avenue Saturday by reading the Dr. Seuss classic “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish” to dozens of kids and their parents. The Nutmeg Reading Council sponsored event brings kids and their parents together to listen to guest readers, do craft projects and play games that promote literacy.
Each child is also given a brand new, age-appropriate book to take home following the story time. This year, guest readers included members of the Board of Aldermen, Board of Education, school principals, Waterbury Police Officers representing the Police Activity League (PAL) and Target employees.
Rep. Noujaim, a longtime supporter of literacy, was honored to receive the Connecticut Reading Association’s first Legislative Literacy Advocate Award for his outstanding efforts to promote literacy on behalf of Connecticut’s children during a ceremony at the state Capitol earlier this year.
