Rep. Noujaim and Sen. Markley Raise $804.18 as Salvation Army Bell Ringers

Donning festive red and white Santa caps last night State Representative Selim Noujaim and Senator Joe Markley volunteered as bell ringers and raised several hundred dollars for the local community.

In one hour of ringing the legislators raised $402.09 in donations in the red Salvation Army kettle outside of the Waterbury Wal-Mart on Tuesday night, December 6th. That money goes directly to the Salvation Army, but as in years past Wal-Mart will graciously match those funds dollar for dollar and donate their match to WATR’s Sunshine Fund.

“Once again, I am proud of the support our local Waterbury community provides to the less fortunate during the holiday season,” Rep. Noujaim said. “The money we raised last night will go a long way to making sure dozens of local families have a happy holiday.”

This is the third year Rep. Noujaim has donated his time to volunteer as a bell ringer and to date he has raised more than $2,000 for the Salvation Army and local charities that include WATR’s Sunshine Fund and the Waterbury Association of Retarded Citizens (WARC).
