HARTFORD – State Rep. Rob Sampson presented Southington resident John Voelker, member of the Xavier High School Engineering Club, with a Citation from the general assembly for being part of the team that won the national aviation design competition at the Third Annual Real World Design Challenge. The students from the club took top prize for designing a next-generation airplance wing that maximizes fuel efficiency and enhances performance. More than 450 schools from 40 states competed in the challenge. The team won the state competition and represented Connecticut in the national challenge for the second year in a row.
