Adversity seems to have become too familiar a phenomenon recently in our communities, and looking back over the past few months, it’s striking to see how many people and organizations did not wait for the holidays to reach out to others to help them manage and conquer it. Instead, they worked hard all year to provide to those dealing with adversity both material help and reassurance that they were not alone. I feel very fortunate to live in such a place: examples of extraordinary generosity have been everywhere, and in this holiday season, they surround us still.
For the holidays, I wish you the very best, and I hope you will enjoy them to the fullest, with those closest to you.
For the year ahead, it is my hope that every one of us in the General Assembly will work together to move our beautiful state forward in a way that will make all of us in Connecticut proud. You deserve no less. A very Happy New Year to you all.
