HARTFORD – State Representative Rob Sampson (R-Wolcott and Southington) has been promoted to ranking member of the legislature’s Insurance and Real Estate Committee. The freshman lawmaker from Wolcott made a big impression on the legislature during the first half of his two-year term.
“Rob Sampson has been a standout first-year legislator. I have full confidence in Rob to be the ranking member of the Insurance and Real Estate Committee. I know his determination to get all the facts and preparation will be beneficial to the other fifty-one House Republican members,” said Rep. Cafero.
“It is an honor to serve the House Republicans as the Ranking Member on the Insurance and Real Estate Committee. I bring a unique perspective to the committee as a realtor and I have also been a licensed insurance producer for nearly 20 years where I have knowledge of existing real estate and insurance law,” said Representative Sampson.
The Wolcott representative who is in his second year of his freshman term has been appointed the head Republican on the Insurance and Real Estate Committee. The Insurance and Real Estate Committee has cognizance of all matters relating to insurance law and real estate law.
Representative Sampson will continue serving on the legislature’s budget committee called the Appropriations Committee and also the Judiciary Committee.
Sampson is the first of the 17 freshman House Republicans who were elected in 2010 to be appointed to a committee leadership post.
The new legislative session kicks off on February 8, 2012, and will conclude May 9th.
