Rep. Smith is looking forward to a busy week of committee meetings and public hearings as the Judiciary Committee and the Planning and Development Committee considers a host of legislative proposals.
On Wednesday, March 7 Rep. Smith will attend a public hearing held by the Judiciary Committee on a group of raised bills ranging in topic from liability for damage caused by a dog, to H.B. No. 5389 – An Act Concerning the Palliative Use of Marijuana.
The same day the Planning and Development Committee will hold a meeting in order to consider 10 raised bills, including An Act Concerning Community Economic Development, and An Act Concerning Performance Standards for Public Utilities.
On Thursday, March 8 the Planning and Development Committee will convene for a meeting that will feature a presentation by Elliot Eisenberg, the Senior Economist for the National Association of Home Builders. The Committee will have the opportunity to ask questions of Mr. Eisenberg about information relevant to Connecticut residents.
On Friday, March 9 the Planning and Development Committee will convene for another public hearing to hear testimony on ten Bills including: H.B. No. 5008 – An Act Concerning the Marijuana and Controlled Substances Tax and H.B. No. 5405 – An Act Establishing a State-Wide Mill Rate for Motor Vehicles and Amending the Definition of Antique, Rare or Special Interest Motor Vehicles.
