This past week, Rep. Scribner participated in Connecticut Realtor Day and met with dozens of realtors who traveled to the State Capitol from Bethel and Brookfield to talk about a number of state issues that impact their industry. Rep. Scribner believes that the State’s job market and economy are directly dependent on the health of our housing market, and was eager and open to listening to the concerns of realtors.

The Connecticut Association of Realtors expressed their strong support for SB 238, An Act Expanding the Learn Here, Live Here Program. The bill allows graduates to set aside 100 percent of their state income tax liability into a Learn Here, Live Here Account. The funds in their account could be used for buying their first home, paying off school loans, or starting a business in the state. If the graduate moves out of state, though they are no longer eligible to contribute to the account and the account will remain open for ten years in hopes that the participant moves back to Connecticut. Once ten years has elapsed, and the individual has not used the fund for any of its intended purposes, the money in the fund will be returned to the General Fund.
