Each even numbered year, the General Assembly has the opportunity to fine-tune the State budget to accommodate changes in revenue, demands on State programs, and other circumstances. The Governor proposed his own set of recommendations earlier this year, and Republican legislators recently unveiled a way to accomplish the same set of lofty goals and still provide tax relief to residents.

The Republican alternative budget was voted down by Democratic lawmakers in the Appropriations Committee on a party line vote. Despite this setback, Rep. Scribner and his minority colleagues and I will continue their efforts to promote this budget and show that there is an alternative to tax-and-spend policy without compromising vital services or the safety net.
If you would like more information on this alternative budget, or to discuss any matter facing our State and community, please contact Rep. Scribner at David.Scribner@cga.ct.gov or 800-842-1423.
