Rep. Smith, House Republicans offer alternative budget adjustments

Each even numbered year, the General Assembly has the opportunity to fine-tune the State budget to accommodate changes in revenue, demands on State programs, and other circumstances.  The Governor proposed his own set of recommendations earlier this year, and Republican legislators recently unveiled a way to accomplish the same set of lofty goals and still provide tax relief to residents.

The alternative budget was voted down by Democratic lawmakers in the Appropriations Committe on a party line vote. Despite this setback, Rep.
