Rep. Srinivasan, DECD host succesful small business workshop

State Representative Prasad Srinivasan (R-31), together with the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), hosted a successful small business workshop in Glastonbury to tell small business owners and prospective entrepreneurs about opportunities available to help their businesses succeed.

During the informational presentation, DECD representatives described the Small Business Express Program that was part of the bipartisan jobs bill passed last year by the legislature. The Program provides loans and grants to Connecticut’s small businesses to help spur job creation and growth.

Over 25 small business leaders, entrepreneurs and Chamber of Commerce members attended the workshop and remarked about how helpful they found the information. Many eagerly accepted applications and were grateful for the opportunity to apply for some much needed small business capital assistance. The DECD representatives made it clear to those in attendance that applying for grants and loans through the Program is easy and free.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our State economy and need all the help that they can get amidst this challenging business climate. I am very proud of the great bipartisan work that went into the creation of the Small Business Express Program, and I am eager now for small businesses to take advantage of their eligibility for DECD loans and grants. I want to thank the DECD for hosting this informative presentation and I look forward to continuing my efforts to pass business-friendly legislation this legislative session.” Rep. Srinivasan said.
