State Representatives Richard Smith (R-108) and Jan Giegler (R-138) yesterday welcomed state championship-winning New Fairfield High School Civil Air Patrol Cadets to the House of Representatives.
The lawmakers led their legislative colleagues in welcoming the group and with a round of applause before sharing with the Chamber about the Cadets’ extensive accomplishments.
“I am very impressed with the high level of professionalism and uniformity that these young Cadets demonstrated in the House of Representatives. It is apparent why they earned the distinguished title of state champions, and I congratulate them on that impressive achievement.” Rep. Smith said.
“As a member of the Legislative Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol Cadets, I have a great appreciation for the hard work and training these Cadets dedicate to the Patrol. I have no doubt these young men and women will use their unique skill set to achieve at whatever it is they choose to pursue in the future.” Rep. Giegler said.

The cadets were named state champions in March at the annual Civil Air Patrol Cadet competition – an impressive feat given that this was the first year that New Fairfield has entered the competition and they are the first high school Patrol in the State.
Civil Air Patrol is the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force with 57,000 members nationwide.
