Southern Auto Auction Celebrates 65 Years, 14 Millionth Car Auctioned

Recently, State Representative Christopher Davis (R – Ellington) joined the Southern Auto Auction in East Windsor in celebrating two important milestones. The SAA is celebrating its 65th straight year of auctions, performing them every Wednesday since 1947. Additionally, SAA won the opportunity to auction off General Motors’ 14 millionth car sold at auction.

This was a big day for owner Larry Tribble who has helped build the Southern Auto Auction into a nationally known organization among dealers and auto manufacturers. What started as a small auction is now the largest independent auto auction in theUSAand features thousands of vehicles every Wednesday in 20 auction lanes.

Representative Davis attended the event to provide an official citation from the Connecticut General Assembly to honor both SAA and GM, and East Windsor First Selectman Denise Menard provided a citation from the town.

The 14 millionth car auctioned was a Chevrolet Equinox.
