Rep. Hovey Attends Monroe Police Department Addition Groundbreaking

On Thursday, May 11, 2012, ground was finally broken on the $4.1 million renovation and addition to the Monroe Police Department, capping eight years of development.

Rep. DebraLee Hovey, who secured a $500,000 state grant for the project back in 2004, and succeeded in getting it reauthorized three times so it would not expire over the intervening years, joined First Selectman Steve Vavrek, Police Chief John Salvatore, building committee chairman J.P. Sredzinski, building committee members Ray Giovanni, Elizabeth Edgerton and David York, as well as other local officials for the brief ceremony.

The improvements, including a dispatch area, training room, records office and emergency exit will be completed wuithin the next ten months.
