Rep. Terrie Wood Hosts Productive Town Hall Meeting in Darien

In the midst of one of the hottest days of the summer, Darien residents gathered in the Community Room at the Dairen Library on Wednesday Night for an open forum hosted by State Representative Terrie Wood.

Rep. Wood provided Darien residents with a detailed presentation summarizing the various pieces of legislation which were taken up during the 2012 Legislative Short Session which ran from February 8th to May 9th. The issues that were discussed ranged from the Education Reform, budget issues, to the legislation she introduced to modify the State’s 8-30g Affordable Housing Act.

“One of my most important jobs as a State Representative is to make sure Darien and Norwalk residents are well informed with what has been happening in at the Capitol in Hartford,” said Wood. “Whether you are a small business owner or a concerned citizen, these meetings are a great opportunity to understand the state policies that have a direct effect on your day-to-day life.”

After the presentation, Rep. Wood took questions from the audience on various local issues pertaining to Darien’s schools and local economic development.

Wood also discussed why it is so important to continue hosting these legislative forums with various groups throughout Darien so citizens are fully aware and updated on the issues that are being discussed in Hartford.

For those who were not able to make the scheduled town hall meetings please feel free to contact Rep. Wood for any questions or concerns you have regarding state government. She can be reached via e-mail atTerrie.Wood@housegop.ct.gov or by phone 800-842-1423.
