Redding Delegation Hosts Town Hall Meeting

REDDING— State Reps. Dan Carter (R-2) and John Shaban (R-135), along with State Senator Toni Boucher (R-26), hosted a productive meeting recently atReddingTown Hall.

The lawmakers discussed legislation passed during the 2012 Legislative Session, and answered questions from attendees about issues concerning the community and state.

Among the topics discussed were the state’s huge unfunded pension liabilities,Connecticut’s continued increase in state borrowing and spending, and the historic and retroactive tax increases imposed last year to pay for it all. The group also discussed the recent education reform bill, the “Learn Here, Live Here” program,Connecticut’s poor business climate and high unemployment, and the recently passed same-day voter registration law.

I took to heart the comments and suggestions that folks offered, and will keep them in mind when considering the issues that affectReddingand surrounding communities” Rep. Carter said.
