Rep. Smith recently chaired the annual New Fairfield Lions Club 4th of July parade. The parade featured forty different marching units including the local drum corps, armed servicemen and women, town sport and civic organizations, elected officials, business owners, Sherman tractors, dancing seniors and, of course, the big red fire trucks. Thousands cheered and waved their American flags along the parade route as America celebrated its independence. Rep. Smith has been a member of the New Fairfield Lions Club since 1992 and has been awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow award for his service to the community.
