State Representative Terrie Wood (R- Darien, Norwalk) joined her legislative colleagues at the Penfield Pavilion in Fairfield on Monday, July 23rd, for the second Shoreline Preservation Task Force public hearing.
After Connecticut was overwhelmed by the damage caused by two storms that occurred late last year, a bipartisan group of legislators were appointed in February to study the various effects of climate change and make recommendations to the legislature on ways to protect Connecticut’s shoreline as rising sea levels and severe storms continue to threaten homes and businesses that lie on the coast.
“These public hearings allow us to meet with our state’s shoreline residents and listen to their personal experiences dealing with the storms and changing sea levels. From there, we can take all their stories and ideas back to Hartford where the legislature can work towards adopting new legislation that will help our shoreline communities address this issue effectively,” said Rep. Wood. “It’s critical that we take every idea into consideration, and I encourage anybody, who has either been affected by the storm or has a home or business at risk, to attend these public hearings and share their story.”
The next meeting will be held on August 6th at the UConn Avery Point Campus in room 308 of the Academic Center, at 6 p.m.
