Preparing for the 2012/2013 school year can be an exciting time for many elementary, middle and high school students. However, school can be a frightening and unsafe place for students that are the subject of bullying.
In light of some recent publicity associated with this growing problem, I would like to pass along some resources to help parents prevent, mitigate and respond to children and teen bullying.
Please visit www.stopbullying.gov to learn:
How to recognize bullying
The difference between traditional and cyber bullying
Who is at risk
How to prevent bullying
How to respond if you child is being bullied
Ways to get help now, including a list of local counselors and mental health services
As always, please let me know if you are in need of any available state resources that may help keep you and your family safe.
