Rep. O’Neill promotes home energy assistance program

With winter quickly approaching, Rep. O’Neill would like to inform you about the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), a federal and state funded heating assistance program intended to help struggling households, seniors, and people with disabilities.

Under the program, eligible homeowners and renters can attain financial assistance to purchase oil, natural gas, electricity, propane, kerosene, coal and wood.

The LIHEAP 2012-2013 season will officially begin on November 15, 2012, but applications are already being accepted for early intake.

This program is administered by the Department of Social Services and coordinated by regional Community Action Agencies, in cooperation with municipal and other non-profit human service agencies. To find the Community Action Agency in your area please call 2-1-1.
