Replacement of Roadway Illumination Systems in Old Saybrook and Parts of Eastern CT

CTDOT is announcing that replacement of roadway illumination systems in Old Saybrook and surrounding eastern Connecticut towns will begin on Monday, October 7.

This project consists of the replacement of existing roadway lighting systems on the following routes:

• Route 1 and Route 154 overlap in Old Saybrook
• Route 1 from the end of the Route 154 overlap to Mill Rock Road East #1 in Old Saybrook
• Route 154 from the end of the Route 1 overlap to the I-95 ramp in Old Saybrook
• Pedestrian walkway

Westbrook High School Welding and Fabrication Lab Grand Opening

This newly created welding and fabrication lab will encourage our youth to pursue careers in manufacturing by providing the tools and skills necessary to obtaining an in demand and good paying career, all without the burdensome costs associated with student loans.

Remembering 9/11

I still remember it vividly. 23 years ago, at Old Saybrook High School, I was sitting in 3rd period Physics when we received the news that the first tower had been hit. We all went to the library and saw the second tower get hit. I will never forget the feelings I had that day – fear, numbness, sadness. In that time of tragedy, we came together as a nation to stand up to terror and unite against evil.

We can never forget what happened on September 11, 2001. We must continue to honor and remember
