In recognition of her legislative leadership, Marilyn was awarded the St. Edmund’s Medal of Honor in 2008 for service to others and for her dedication to making her community a better place. In 2008, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1467 of Lyme-Old Lyme honored Marilyn with the VFW Meritorious and Distinguished Service Award. Marilyn was named 2010 Children’s Champion by the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance for her work on early childhood education issues. In November, 2010, Marilyn was awarded the inaugural Outstanding Women in Leadership Award by the Boy Scouts of America Connecticut Yankee Council for her leadership on education issues, and for fiscal responsibility in state government.
