About Penny Bacchiochi

Penny Bacchiochi’s constituency of Somers and Stafford first elected her to office in 2002, where she has powerfully represented the 52nd House District ever since.

Rep. Bacchiochi, who sits on the Higher Education, Housing, Public Safety, Energy & Technology, General Law, Internship and Veterans committees, was appointed to her Republican Caucus Chair position in 2009. After re-election into her sixth term in 2012, Rep. Bacchiochi continues to hold the ranking leadership position.

As a small business owner for the past 15 years, Rep. Bacchicohi understands what it’s like to meet a payroll each week and she understands the burdens that all small business owners feel when the state enacts its anti-business regulations. Her family-owned real estate and property management business is located in Stafford.

Previously, Rep. Bacchiochi has worked with the Somers Housing Authority to complete Phase I of the Woodcrest Senior Housing, a milestone that will bring comfort to seniors in the district for upcoming decades. In addition to her 25 years of housing experience, Rep. Bacchiochi is a member of the University of Connecticut Alumni Association, the Somers Republican Town Committee, the Northern Connecticut Land Trust, and numerous realtor and housing associations.

Rep. Bacchiochi graduated from Stafford High School in 1979 and went onto graduate from Becker Junior College with an Associate of Science degree in Social Work. She then received her Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from the University of Connecticut and has also received graduate training in Secondary Education at University of St. Joseph’s in Hartford.

She currently lives with her husband in Stafford and has two children.
