About Rob Sampson

Sampson_thumbRob Sampson is currently serving his second term as State Representative for Connecticut’s 80th District, which includes the entire town of Wolcott and the western and northern portion of Southington, including all or some of Marion, Milldale, and Plantsville. He sits on the Appropriations, Insurance and Real Estate, and Environment Committees. He has also been appointed to the legislature’s bipartisan task for on Gun Violence Prevention and Children’s Safety formed in the wake of the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT.

Sampson has made a name for himself in just his first term by being a vigorous opponent to the Governor’s budget proposals, fighting for the rights of gun-owners, and pursuing a common sense economic agenda that shrinks the size of government, reduces wasteful spending and lowers taxes. He has also helped lead the fight against the controversial New Britain to Hartford bus way project and two controversial executive orders issued by Governor Malloy effectively unionizing day care workers and personal care attendants without the required authority of the legislature.

Education: Rob Sampson graduated Meriden’s Maloney High School with honors, later attending Central Connecticut State University, majoring in Marketing.

Professional Career: At age 16, Rob Sampson started work at his first job as a stock boy in a local dept. store. As a young man, he worked as an auto mechanic, a handyman, store clerk, parts counterperson, and even as a roadie for a deejay company. Starting as an entry-level insurance agent, he worked his way up and ultimately became successful in the independent insurance agency business, including managing several small but profitable offices. In 2002, Sampson made the decision to dedicate his efforts principally to real estate. He has been a top producer in throughout his real estate career and has recently joined Realty 3 of Connecticut as both a Realtor and Regional Recruiter. He has also remained active in insurance, now as an advisor & counselor with nearly 20 years experience.

Personal: Rob Sampson was born and raised in Meriden, moving to Wolcott in May of 2003 citing its quality school system, sense of community and lower taxes as rationale. He spends his leisure time hiking, motorcycling, and target shooting. Sampson is a member of Wolcott’s Masonic Lodge No. 146 and is currently serving as Senior Warden.

Views: Sampson is unwavering in his defense of conservative ideals. Dedicated to creating a brighter future based on America’s founding principles. Sampson believes in limited government, personal responsibility and the need for absolute fiscal accountability in government. An avid supporter of the Rights of the Individual and the Constitution, including the 2nd amendment, Rob is a member of the NRA, a gun owner, and is active in the sport.

Miscellaneous: An avid reader and a student of American History, Rob collects items related to the George Washington, the American Revolution and the Civil War.
