State Representatives Craig Fishbein and Lezlye Zupkus hosted a workshop in conjunction with PURA at the Cheshire Senior Center on Wednesday, April 5th.
The legislators were joined by rate specialists from the Connecticut’s Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) for an event called “Learn How to Lower Your Electric Bill. Attendees were encouraged to bring their electric bills as the specialists walked them through various cost-reduction methods.
“Energy costs are a large part of all of our household bills and I’m pleased Rep. Zupkus and I were able to bring rate specialists in to assist residents in lowering their bills,” Rep. Fishbein said. “I remain committed to finding ways to reduce expenses through conservation, technology advancements and clean energy sources on the local and state level.”
“Connecticut provides excellent resources to energy consumers through their website, energizect.com,” said Rep. Zupkus. “I encourage residents to reach out to my office if they have any questions about their electric bill.”
Connecticut’s Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) specialists mentioned how the wholesale prices for electricity have tended to mirror natural gas wholesale prices in recent years. The power companies in Connecticut and the rest of New England have become increasingly reliant on natural gas.
