State Representative Richard Smith proudly serves the 108th General Assembly District communities of New Fairfield, Sherman, New Milford and Kent. Rep. Smith, who is currently serving his first term, is a member of the Planning & Development Committee, Judiciary Committee and Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee.
Rep. Smith has been very active in the fight against overspending, tax increases and initiatives that inhibit job growth. In the 2011 legislative session, he joined Republican leadership to create the “no tax increase” budget as an alternative to the Democrats’ budget that included the historic $1.8 billion tax increase.
